Play Station [s]

March 2019. I have begun the photography project “Play Station” as an on site installation with small objects the setting is a pond and surrounding wooded area. The playing part is bringing these objects outside as a child might do. Something about this action is creating a space for joy. I envy children who bring their stuffed animal, blanket and or favorite toy with them when they leave home, it is transitional and comforting. I first brought my sons childhood plastic animals, tiny replicas of live animals tigers, pigs, and horses. I set them up in groups that are either on the move maybe migrating or gazing out at the pond. The photos are mostly close ups which make it seem almost cinematic or larger than they really are. I am fascinated by animals spirits and liveliness, their unique bodies, fur and how and where they show up in the stream of living things.
